Resume Guideline

A curriculum vitae, commonly referred to as CV, also called resume, is a summary that presents you. Your CV should be clear, concise, complete, and up-to-date with current employment and educational information.

The following are examples of information that can be included in your curriculum vitae. The elements that you include will depend on what you are applying for, so be sure to incorporate the most relevant information to support your candidacy in your CV.

  • Personal details and contact information. Most CVs start with contact information and personal data but take care to avoid superfluous details, such as religious affiliation, children’s names and so on.
  • Education and qualifications. Take care to include the names of institutions and dates attended in reverseorder; Ph.D., Masters, Undergraduate.\
  • Work experience/employment history. The most widely accepted style of employment record is the chronological curriculum vitae. Your career history is presented in reverse date order starting with most recent. Achievements and responsibilities are listed for each role. More emphasis/information should be put on more recent jobs.
  • Skills. Include computer skills, foreign language skills, and any other recent training that is relevant to the role applied for.
  • Brief biography
  • Scholarships
  • Training
  • Study abroad
  • Dissertations
  • Theses
  • Bibliography
  • Research experience
  • Graduate Fieldwork
  • Teaching experience
  • Publications
  • Presentations and lectures
  • Exhibitions
  • Awards and honours
  • Grants, fellowships, and assistantships
  • Technical, computer, and language skills
  • Professional licenses and certifications
  • Memberships
  • Hobbies and Interests

Keep it simple and concise.

Employers screen candidates resumes daily and only spend very little time on each one application. Your resume in JobsnCandidates Profile should highlight what you have to offer immediately. The aim is to draw attention and showcase your talent right away.

Be Current Trend

Create a personal branding and style. The new applications need to look promising and appealing. The latest applications should have balanced design. However, do not rely on the applications 100%, but make sure you’re choosing one that suits your qualifications, industry and work experience.

Be relevant.

Streamline the ‘Experience’ section to only include relevant working experience. More importantly, be sure to list down quantifiable achievements and your contribution to the company instead of merely general description of your job scope. This will help you stand out from other candidates.

Fresh graduates can be outstanding too.

If you are a fresh graduate, do include any real past working experience that may add value to your resume in JobsnCandidates Profile, be it a school project where you held an important role, a part time stint, a freelance job, an internship, even your involvement in sports or extracurricular activities. Include your key learning and achievements from these experiences to illustrate qualities such as leadership, determination, credibility, competency, integrity, self-confidence, etc.

Include Keywords.

Spend some time in identifying the right keywords or experiences, adding the correct skills and abilities, and crafting those keywords into your JobsnCandidates Profile.

Make a keyword rich resume. This is one of the latest trends that will work on your resume. Take note that employers are using automate short listing software. Be found! Use resume keywords related to your industry.

Be Error Free.

Spelling and grammar mistakes in your JobsnCandidates Profile or uploaded resume show that you are not detail oriented and do not take your job application seriously. Have a trusted friend vet through your JobsnCandidates Profile and uploaded resume.
